{"id":9636,"date":"2018-02-05T10:00:25","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T16:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=9636"},"modified":"2018-02-03T01:53:34","modified_gmt":"2018-02-03T07:53:34","slug":"hampton-dumont-cal-finalize-sharing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2018\/02\/hampton-dumont-cal-finalize-sharing\/","title":{"rendered":"Hampton-Dumont, CAL finalize sharing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month, CAL officially agreed to send grades 7-12 to Hampton-Dumont, the <em>Hampton Chronicle<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/hamptonchronicle.com\/content\/cal-h-d-boards-choose-school-name-whole-grade-sharing\">reported<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamptonchronicle.com\/content\/cal-board-education-approves-whole-grade-sharing-hampton-dumont\">multiple articles.<\/a>\u00a0(One of the articles was by Greg Forbes, who was laid off from the <em>Sioux City Journal<\/em> a while back and was named the editor [!] of the <em>Chronicle<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesheffieldpress.com\/content\/forbes-named-editor-hampton-chronicle\">nine weeks ago<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"http:\/\/hamptonchronicle.com\/content\/monday-evenings-vote-was-key-step-securing-future\">editorial last week<\/a> disclosed more terms: The combined district will be HD-CAL, but presentation (uniforms etc.) will be phased in to save money. The mascot will remain H-D&#8217;s. CAL is moving forward with building improvements with the intention of staying open for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>CAL is one-fifth the size of HD, so the name agreement at least is a boon for CAL. A new name would have been tricky because &#8220;Central Franklin&#8221; could be interpreted as a slight to Dumont (and Aredale, which is also on the Butler County side of the district but unmentioned).
