(July 1, 1920-October 1940)
WEST End: IA 90, now IA 175 at US 169, Webster County
IA 91 is one of many routes entirely or partially consumed by IA 175. When that route was extended west from Stratford, that also entitled the state to build a new Des Moines River bridge, the only such one between Fort Dodge and Boone.
EAST End: Dayton, Webster County
The earliest document available has a construction project from Harcourt to Dayton ending on the north side of Dayton, at the intersection of P73 and 6th Avenue. Paving into town 1932 put the east end at Skillet Street at High Street. However, sometime after that, Dayton renamed its streets and Skillet Avenue ("Street" could have been a map error in 1932) now intersects 1st Street NW in that location, a block west of downtown and where IA 175 turns south again. The Dayton Light and Power building, almost certainly a New Deal project, is a block south of that on Main. (7/25/12)
