NORTH End: Stop sign/T intersection, IA 939/Old US 20 (now D22), Buchanan County
Jason's pictures are before both 282 and 939 were decommissioned; mine are post-decommissioning.

The north end of 282 is a vestige of when US 20 was two lanes, half a mile north of present-day 20, much like IA 297.

Cedar Rock is a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1950. According to the 1998 Iowa Travel Guide, Wright also "designed the ... furnishings, selected the carpets and window treatments, and even chose the accessories. The 11-acre site also includes a river pavilion, council fire and entrance gate, all designed by Wright."

The brown sign, which I believe is in Helvetica, isn't standard. Notice also the change in the bottom line.
Ahead, the road bends southward from the survey correction line for a short distance and then rejoins it, staying south of the railroad tracks. It is the only deviation from the line in Buchanan County.

The junction sign on 282 incorrectly said you were just coming to it.

This picture was taken directly across from the "Jct 20" above to show how close the north end was to 20.

Ahead, county roads D47 and W35 cross the Wapsipinicon River together on the "narrow bridge".

The Monti sign is the same in both pictures, but county road signs have now been added.
