That certainly is a high sign. Which tree is the lone tree?

Lone Tree's quasi-exurb-ness from Iowa City gets some justification from a new Casey's on the north side of town and a steady stream of cars coming south during the 5 o'clock hour.

The picture of the first sign on 405 contains everything you wanted to see about the highway surroundings. Jason writes, "This is all 0.2 miles of IA 405, which runs from the north city limits of Lone Tree in southeast Johnson County to IA 22 (the intersection is in the background behind the two STOP AHEAD signs)." Until 1980 it went an additional quarter-mile into town. The white building is on the north side of the IA 22 intersection.

The spur to Lone Tree was designated in fall 1957 and signed in 1958, when IA 22 was straightened through the area. The south end was pulled up about two-tenths of a mile, from the south end of downtown to the north end of downtown, a decade later.
