Special to this page: Note Gov. Culver's appearance at the pep rally. During the season, he issued a statement congratulating the Hawkeyes on their last-second win against Michigan State while neglecting to say anything about Iowa State beating Nebraska AT Nebraska for the first time since 1977. He said he'd make up for it by attending the bowl games for both - but when he said that, Iowa State hadn't qualified for a bowl yet. (Story here.)

The Minnesota side, which was sparsely filled, probably because the Gophers were here last year. (Meanwhile, Missouri got upset they weren't invited.)

Yes we can...avoid the ignonimity of having a bowl game and a losing season at the same time.

January 1, 2010, 5 AM MST. My second picture of the decade.

My first time at DFW. I can only imagine what the place looked like eight days earlier in the blizzard.

Cowboys Stadium was easily recognizable from the air. Since I took these pictures, it's been demolished.

Back in Iowa, and it is COLD. I was on I-10 and I-80 on the same day.
