Iowa's "Route 66", just like IA 133, hits the mileage mark exactly. The water tower marks Diagonal's centennial, 1888-1988.

Since 2001, the state's largest district, Des Moines, and one of the five smallest maintaining a high school, Diagonal, have been next to each other in alphabetical order. The certified enrollment for Diagonal in 2009 was 89 students, or about 7 students per grade. (In a suburban district, that would be called a rounding error.)
