The Midland school district, based in Wyoming, is having a garage sale and tours of its 1914 school, which has been replaced after passage of a bond issue. According to the school’s website, the garage sale is Saturday from 9 AM to noon.
The district has closed buildings in other towns over the decades and the 1914 “Bronson” building was across the street from later construction (even the World War II-era gymnasium).
Speaking of Midland: The school district forgot to do some housecleaning when it closed the Lost Nation Building, according to this column from the Quad-City Times. The column says it closed in 2012, but my school timeline indicates it happened at the end of the fall 2010 semester. (My original source has been 404’d, but a quick dive into the Jones County newspapers archive confirmed a closing “upon completion of the remodeling at the Oxford Junction Center”.)
