Lansing bridge will have ribbon-cutting

The Iowa and Wisconsin DOTs gave a week’s notice about a ceremony for the Lansing bridge on Friday. A “brief ribbon-cutting” is scheduled for 11 AM on the bridge with a “ceremonial first crossing”. “Planned attendees include state, local, and project officials from Iowa and Wisconsin,” it says.

Regular traffic is expected to start crossing the bridge around 12:30.

Alas, a Friday event 2.5 hours away with minimal notice on election week isn’t something I can show up at, especially if media is supposed to be there at 10:45. OK, so I’d have to do some amazing sweet-talking “to help staff identify media contacts” and then I’d probably be told to park in New Albin or something.

Local radio in Lansing did an interview with Clayton Burke of the Iowa DOT last month about plans to reopen the bridge.

The video only had 28 views, 2 of which are mine, but it does provide some additional information.
